The first ever Celebrate Fairview, a fundraiser for the school, was held on Saturday, April 28, from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The event was an outdoor block party, held at the Sports Complex South of Groucho’s in Krakow. In fact, the event completely closed off Krakow’s Main Street.

There were numerous tents set up, featuring activities for the entire family that stretched throughout the day.
BayTek Games provided games for children to play, although there was also a large, supervised “Kids’ Area” with bouncers, arts, crafts and other “kid-friendly” activities. Free drinks and candy were also provided to the younger kids for free.

Pulaski High School Leo Club volunteers manned the supervisor play area throughout the day.

Besides activities for kids, there were also a number of attractions for adults as well. Festival Foods generously supported a meat raffle, and other, extra raffles were offered as prizes as well, including Packers art, gourmet baskets, Noah’s Ark tickets, Time Warner packages and more. There were also 50/50 cash raffles every hour.

The event featured a silent auction, as well, put together by the Fairview PSO and community businesses featuring baskets of items up for bidding.

In total, more than 300 people attended the event, including 100 kids. More than $17,000 was raised for Fairview, which will now be used to purchase technology items for the school.

“It was heartwarming to see a community come together like that. Our parent, staff, and community volunteers pulled together to create an event that that not only benefited our students, but the village of Krakow as well. It is a testament to how special the Pulaski Community School District really is,” Fairview co-principal Eric VandenHeuvel said. The school plans to hold the event next spring as well.

On Saturday, April 28, Dynamic Designs Unlimited in Pulaski held its annual open house event. More than 75 people stopped in during the four-hour event.

Of the store’s 75 guests, about 15 or 20 were representatives from area businesses, while others were “showroom customers,” who were looking to purchase items, such as clothing and blankets, from the store.

According to Tammy Breczkowski, co-owner of Dynamic Designs, the shop holds the annual celebration to thank their current customers, and demonstrate to new customers what the business is all about. It’s also a great time for those who have never been inside the shop to visit, and get some great deals on its merchandise.

“Another a big reason why we hold the open house is to educate our customers on how things are done, so they understand the processes and the fact that it isn’t just a click of a button to embroider a shirt. It is more than that,” Breczkowski said.

The event’s biggest highlights included the food and tours, Breczkowski added. As part of the tours, customers could learn about each area of the shop, such as embroidery and laminating, and were able to see the machines in action.

“It’s just nice for our customers to visit and meet the owners and our employees. It allows us to put faces to voices on the phone and starting those relationships is important to us,” Breczkowski said.

For more information about Dynamic Designs, and the services they offer, visit http://www.dynamicdesignspulaski.com or like them on Facbook at www.facebook.com/dymanicdesignspulaski. Pictures from the shop’s open house event, as well as samples of Dymnic Designs’ merchandise can be found on both the company website and Facebook page as well.

As the spring season continues, the Pulaski Red Raider girls’ softball team has been playing very well. Most recently, on Saturday, April 28, the team took on their rivals, the Bay Port Pirates, in a double header. Unfortunately, the team lost both games.

On Thursday, April 26, the Red Raiders went head to head with Green Bay East. Both teams played a well fought game, but the Red Devils ran home with a win 12-9.

The Red Devils hit off with a great start and ended the second inning 4-0. Allowing another two runs, the Green Bay Red Devils were leading the third inning. The bottom of the fourth inning was a substantial turning point for the Pulaski Raiders.
The team picked up, getting the crowd out of their seats. With high hopes in the stands, the Pulaski Raiders fed off of the energy of the crowd. During the bottom of the fourth the team picked up 6-5.

A change in pace enveloped the game and Pulaski staggered behind the Red Devil with a score of 12-5. By the end of the sixth inning, Pulaski’s momentum shifted to high gear, but fell short 12-9 in the final round.

On Tuesday, April 24, the team took on Green Bay Preble at home. Unfortunately, the team lost 5-0 after Preble pitcher Emily Standa threw a six-hitter. During a double header against Green Bay West on Saturday, April 21, the team won both games, with Red Raiders Bailey Wirtz and Kennedy Tebo combining for a no-hitter during the first game. During game two, Aly Huxford and Alyssa Rentmeester both drove in three runs for Pulaski, earning the team another decisive win.

With the season still in play, the Red Raider softball team is looking to fight hard to advance to the post season. On Saturday, May 5, the team will be hosting an multi-team invitational tournament at home beginning at 9:30 a.m. Following the invitational, the team’s next home match-up will be against Maintowoc Lutheran on May 8 at 4:30 p.m.

The Pulaski fifth grade boys PYO basketball team participated in the Wisconsin State Invitational Championship Tournament in Kimberly and Menasha on April 14 and April 15. The tournament, which was organized by The Great Northwest Basketball League, brought together 75 of the top community-based fifth grade boys basketball teams fom throughout Wisconsin.

During the tournament, Pulaski played six games, taking on teams from across the state. The team beat Beaver Dam 39-35 during their first game and then beat Sparta 37-17 during their second game of pool play.

After winning their first two games, Pulaski moved on to the second round, where they beat Waunakee 38-20. During the quarterfinals, Pulaski beat West De Pere 33-22 before moving onto the semi-finals, where they took on Grafton, coming out on top 29-18.
Upon winning five-games in a row, Pulaski moved onto the championship game. Unfortunately, they were defeated by Waupun 35-32 in overtime, ultimately taking second place in division two of the tournament.

Pulaski’s team was coached by Todd Stiede, and two of Pulaski’s players, Logan Lukasik and Trevor Stiede, were named to the Division Two All Tournament Team. Other members of Pulaski’s team included: Dylan Hendricks, Cayden Egnarski, Beau Warden, Connor Warden, Andrew Kane, Nick Redlin, Conrad Hillesheim and Alec Jonet.

The Wisconsin State Invitational Championship Tournament is an annual event, held in February, March or April of each year, and pits the top community-based teams in the state of Wisconsin against each other. The tournament is organized by the size of communities, much like the WIAA state high school tournaments, so that the state’s top teams can compete on a level playing field with other programs their size. Similar, but separate, tournaments are also held for sixth, seventh and eighth grade boys and girls throughout the spring as well.

Despite a few early conference losses to start their season off, the Pulaski varsity girls soccer team has high expectations for the remainder of the spring.

In the first rounds of conference play, the team fell short to two tough Sheboygan teams: Sheboygan North and Sheboygan South. The early losses , however, have only pushed the girls to work harder in practice in order to produce some more positive results out on the field in upcoming weeks.

“It is no surprise that the conference is tough again this year, but we feel we have been working as hard as any other team in the conference and are excited to face some more tough competition this season,” said senior defender Kayla Verkuilen.

The girls proved demandingly victorious in a 5-0 over Medford as well as a 4-1 victory over Wausau East earlier this season. While both victories came in non conference matchups, the team is hoping to carry over some of the same success to conference play in order to make its mark on the Fox River Classic Conference (FRCC).

“We’ve got as much talent this year as any other and I know we can make some noise in the FRCC,” said senior defender Grace Kaiser. “All we can do is work hard and hope all our hard work pays off this season.”

Pulaski continues conference play against at Green Bay West High School on Tuesday, May 8 followed by a home matchup against a tough Manitowoc Lincoln team. Come out and support your Lady Red Raiders as the season progresses and cheer on the home team.
