At a Dec. 17 meeting, the Pulaski Community School District Board of Education accepted the resignation of Superintendent Rebecca J. Kurzynske. She is leaving the district to pursue a career as a director of education and government practice with a firm in the private sector, but will serve as Superintendent through June 30, 2019.
“I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to lead the Pulaski Community School District in recent years and am proud of our accomplishments in the name of student learning and community growth,” Mrs. Kurzynske said.
“The Pulaski Community School District has been home to me for nearly fifteen years. I am grateful for the opportunity to teach, learn, grow, and serve here. Our roots are strong in our philosophy and I am confident that the Pulaski Community School District will continue on a path to success through collaboration and a focus on learning,” she added.
Mrs. Kurzynske was named superintendent by the board in February 2016 after having served as interim superintendent since May 2015.
“The Pulaski Community School District appreciates the leadership Bec brought to the district over her combined years as superintendent. During her tenure, our district has undertaken numerous projects to improve our facilities for the benefit of the students and community, while also being responsible to taxpayers by operating within our budget. Enrollment has grown, student academic achievement is strong, and our district scored ‘exceeds expectations’ on state report cards,” said school board president Michael Voelker.
“Importantly, the gains our district has made over the past years under Bec’s leadership have us very well positioned to continue our success and advance our mission. Her assistance during the coming months as we look for a new superintendent will also be invaluable to the process,” Voelker said.
The board will begin the superintendent search process in the near future.
